EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING – NOTICE OF ELECTRONIC VOTING Amendments To SIA Constitution

Dear SIA Members

EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING – NOTICE OF ELECTRONIC VOTING
Amendments To SIA Constitution

As with all Institution(s), to have Constitution periodically reviewed to reflect more accurately the needs of current affairs is prudent. To this end, an extraordinary general meeting is proposed to review/discuss and e-vote on improvements:

Notice of Electronic Voting
Voting Period – 21 June to 5 July 2019

1) Membership Matters

Existing: Clause 4.2(8) Student Members
Student Members shall be undergraduates with a full time course in architecture in a university or educational institute recognised or acceptable to the Council

Proposed Changes: Clause 4.2(8) Student Members
Student Members shall be persons enrolled in an full time architectural course in a university or educational institute recognised or acceptable to the Council

Reasons
The previous clause implies that only students enrolled in an institute of higher learning i.e. universities are eligible for student membership.

The current education landscape has evolved, with the inclusion of polytechnic/diploma education as part of the architectural education journey; leading to full degrees.

The amendment to the constitution is made in a bid for greater inclusiveness.

Please join SIA in formulating an improved Institution for our tomorrow, let us know your views and vote through your Member Online account.

With best wishes
