The Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) has been appointed by The Children’s Aid Society (CAS) to organize an architectural design competition to invite design proposals from interested architects for the proposed Melrose Village integrated residential care and support facility for children and youth in need (The Project).

This is a two-stage architectural design competition launched by the Children’s Aid Society (CAS), to invite design proposals for Melrose Village (The Project), an integrated residential care and support facility for children and youth in need.

For 48 years since its opening in 1971, the existing Melrose Home grounds has provided residential care, augmented with psychosocial, academic and other necessary support, for vulnerable and disadvantaged children and youths between 6 to 18 years old, to create a nurturing and comfortable “home away from home”.

However, the effects of time on the existing premises, and the aspirations to do more and do better for the residents and community at large, mean that the current Melrose Home is ready for transformation and growth, to remain relevant and impactful for the immediate future and beyond.
