Course Introduction:
This course equips industry professionals in the Built Environment (BE) for OpenBIM submission to regulatory agencies for automated checking. OpenBIM extends the benefits of Building Information Modelling (BIM) by improving the accessibility, usability, management and sustainability of digital data in the BE industry. At its core, OpenBIM is a collaborative process that is vendor-neutral. OpenBIM processes can be defined as sharable project information that supports seamless collaboration for all project participants. Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) is an international standard used to describe, share and exchange construction and facilities management information, making it possible to hold and exchange relevant data between different software applications and is at the heart of OpenBIM. Participants will undergo a 1-day program covering the regulatory approval framework through definitions of Construction and Real Estate Network (CORENET) X, OpenBIM, and IFC format. The trainings will prepare participants for IFC-Singapore (SG) model mapping and conversion of BIM models to IFC-SG standards, and help them move away from current BIM submission format where consultants submit separate models to regulatory agencies, to a more integrated OpenBIM format using IFC processes in CORENET X submission and approval platform.
