Ms Nancy Baddoo
Associate Director at The Steel Construction Institute and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
She has 30 years’ experience researching and developing design guidance for stainless steel. She chairs the European technical committee responsible for the stainless steel Eurocode, EN 1993-1-4, and is writing the new American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) stainless steel design specification.
Synopsis
There is a growing need for high performance materials in the built environment that offer improved durability, strength, resilience and lifespan. This seminar will give an introduction to the characteristics of the different stainless steel alloy families and explain how to select an appropriate alloy for a service environment and application. The properties and structural response of stainless steel will be compared with carbon steel and aluminium. A series of case studies will illustrate applications of stainless steel around the world.
