| Today, the International Union of Architects (UIA) proudly celebrates today the theme “Empowering the Next Generation in Participatory Urban Design” for World Architecture Day 2024. This day highlights the importance of empowering young architects to lead the profession into the future, while also acknowledging the vital role architects play in developing inclusive urban settings that foster sustainable environments. Building on this theme, the active participation of young architects is essential in shaping resilient urban settings that champion social justice and ethical practices. Through their involvement in urban planning, adaptive reuse and revitalisation of existing structures, as well as the introduction of innovative policies for upgrading informal settlements, and the integration of circular economy principles and sustainable construction techniques, they play a significant role in shaping cities that focus on the wellbeing of citizens and the environment, thereby ensuring a better future for the next generations. |
