SIAADA 2020 FAQ

Queries received for 19th SIA Architectural Design Awards 2020

S/N Topic Query Response
1. Past Entries Eligibility 1. Item 3.2c. states that ‘Entries that have previously won a Design Award or an Honourable Mention in the past cycles are not eligible for entry’, and, 2. Item 3.2d. states that ‘Entries that have been previously submitted in the past cycles are not eligible for entry’. Does this mean that entries submitted in past cycles that did not win a Design Award or an Honourable Mention, and were not shortlisted cannot be submitted for this year’s Awards? Definition of completed for master plans 1) What is the definition of “completed” for master plans done overseas? 2) If the client has successfully sold off parcels in the master plan can it be considered complete? 1) For consideration for Masterplan category, the main Masterplan design principles have to be explicitly stated and completed on-site. The Jury cannot judge base on plans and perspectives alone. Otherwise, it will be a paper design competition. 2) For cases where the Client has sold the land parcels, the above still applies. The client does not have to develop the Masterplan components. However, whatever is built shall adhere to the original masterplan intent.
