Design Award (Residential Project)
The Jury was impressed by the successful integration of a programme for multi-generation living, sensitive urban response and focused architectural rigour.
The master plan engages the site with landscaped terraces and public spaces opening up to the adjacent linear park. The judges appreciated the heightened sense of arrival at the drop-off, and the elegant integration of the parking facilities, which was reworked as a landscaped spine connecting to the residential blocks.
The unit layouts included one with a double volume living space that could interlock with a smaller unit above and connect via a stair. The connected units were released to multi-generation families that applied for a family package.
The architectural expression effectively describes the volumetric composition of the unit types, arranged in a compelling motif carried through in massing and articulation.
The jury recognized that , in the context of public housing in Singapore, this is a significant achievement in the re-examination of its typology.
