The Small and Medium Architectural Practice Committee was setup with the objective to provide a dignified and sustainable platform for Small and Medium Architectural Practice.

Small and Medium Architectural Practices are those comprising 1 to 20 personnel.

The objectives for the committee are as follows

  • Practice - to provide SMAP with practice needs/tools, e.g. publication of the SIA Articles and Conditions of Contract for Minor Works 2012, organising seminars on practice matters, etc
  • Procurement - to provide an avenue for SMAP to give feedback on procurement issues for public projects
  • Peer support - to provide an avenue for SMAP to seek peer support and advice on practice matters through the SMAP Practice Clinic
  • Public Education - to address the problem of illegal practitioners providing architectural service and educate the public on when to engage an Architect

SMAP Practice Clinic

Members of SMAP often work in isolation and may not have access to advice when experiencing difficulties during their course of practice. The clinic provides an avenue for practitioners to seek a second opinion or informal advice from their peers.

This clinic is free for SIA Corporate Members. Those wishing to attend the clinic can write to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
